'Inside story' on Bulger killers may yet be told

Details of how James Bulger's killers grew up in care and how they were treated and rehabilitated may yet be published.

Lawyers for media organisations are now in court arguing that details about Jon Venables and Robert Thompson's time in care should be published.

Details leading to the identification of the two and about how they have been given new identities would remain banned by the order.

Judge Dame Butler-Sloss has ruled there will be no "historical reporting" of the case for 12 months.

After the year-long moratorium is over media organisations may be allowed to publish limited details about the killers' lives in care.
