Jennifer Lawrence remains world’s highest-paid actress

Jennifer Lawrence is the world’s highest-paid actress, according to Forbes’ latest rich list.

The Hunger Games star has topped the annual list for the second year in a row, with her earnings over the past 12 months reportedly coming in at $46m (€41m) before tax.

At 26, the Academy Award-winning actress is also the youngest on the list, which looked at movie stars’ earnings between June 2015 and June 2016.

She sits ahead of Melissa McCarthy, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston, and Fan Bingbing in the top five.

Lawrence topped the list in 2015 after earning $52m (€46m), meaning she has seen an 11.5% decrease in takings year on year.

The US actress received a hefty payout from the box office gross of the final movie in the popular Hunger Games franchise, in which she starred as hero Katniss Everdeen.

She is also believed to have taken a large sum of money up-front from her forthcoming movie Passengers.

McCarthy, 45, has come in at second place on the list, with a reported $33m, thanks to a large payment for starring in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot.

Her estimated earnings have risen by $10m since the 2015 list was published.

Johansson, 31, is third on the list with estimated annual earnings of $25m and Aniston, 47, is fourth, with Forbes putting her earnings at $21m.

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is fifth place with her annual takings reaching $17m.

The only new addition to the list is Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone in 10th place with $10m earned over the past year.

Charlize Theron, Amy Adams, Julia Roberts, and Mila Kunis complete the list.
