Unattended boy, 6, beats newborn sister to death

A 62-year-old Florida woman has been charged with aggravated manslaughter after police said her six-year-old son beat his newborn sister to death while the children and their three-year-old brother were left alone in a minivan.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gulatieri said 13-day-old Kathleen Bridget Steele was pronounced dead at St Petersburg General Hospital.

However, investigators believe she died earlier, inside the van where her mother, Kathleen Steele, had left the children for 38 minutes while at a phone repair shop.
