David Beckham backs Remain campaign

In the great Brexit debate former soccer star David Beckham has come out for Remain while a furious row has erupted between his wife Victoria and a prominent Leave campaign group.

The ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid player said Europe is a team and it needs to play together in order to succeed. However, the Leave.EU campaign group immediately seized on the announcement by highlighting that Ms Beckham criticised “bureaucrats” in Brussels when she was in the Spice Girls.

However, Ms Beckham hit back and accused the group of “misusing” comments she made 20 years ago in relation to the UK possibly joining the single currency.
