New survey reveals Ireland’s most popular accent

We are a nation of many dialects, each one more wondrous than the next.

But which one is the ultimate accent has now been decided in a new survey carried out by BIC.

The survey has revealed that Donegal is the nation’s favourite accent and weather is our number one topic of conversation.

"Sure, isn’t it a grand day?"

The poll of more than 1,000 people carried out by BIC, found that Corkonians, Dubliners and Kerry-folk are the country’s best talkers.

It also found that "Ah here!", "Sure look" and "Take it handy" ranked as the most popular ’Irishisms.’
