British prime minister David Cameron immediately launched his campaign to stay in the EU after leaders unanimously agreed a hard fought for deal to woe his electorate in a referendum later in the year.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who had supported Mr Cameron throughout the last 40 hours agreeing the Brexit deal, said this was just the start of the campaign to keep Britain in the EU.

“This is just the start of the challenge. It’s in our interests that Britain would stay in,” said Mr Kenny.
