‘Tumble dryer fires reported daily’ in the UK

Tumble dryers cause almost one blaze reported to British fire brigades every day, according to new figures.

Brigades were called to 926 tumble dryer fires between 2011 and 2013, amounting to 309 each year, freedom of information data obtained by the Daily Mirror showed.

Hotpoint models accounted for the highest number of dryer-related fires, with 410 in the three-year period, the paper added.
