Police officer shot in Philadelphia by man who ‘pledged allegiance to IS’

The suspect in the shooting of a Philadelphia policeman told investigators he shot the officer in the name of Islam and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group, according to US police.

A spokesman also said the man used a stolen police gun in the shooting.

The officer has been identified as Officer Jessie Hartnett.
