Child among dead in latest attack in Syria

Rebels entrenched in an eastern suburb of Damascus fired volleys of mortar shells into the Syrian capital, killing three people, including a child, and wounding 33, said Syria’s state-run news agency and residents.

Government forces hit back with air strikes that activists said killed at least 28 people.

The Damascus suburb of Eastern Ghouta is held by rebels fighting to topple president Bashar Assad, who often launch mortars into Damascus, his seat of power.
