The Real Madrid star has kept the identity of the five-year-old’s mother private but said he is ā€œ100%ā€ sure his son, also called Cristiano, will understand.

Ronaldo, seen as a heartthrob by many, also said he has ā€œa fewā€ love interests at the moment.

The 30-year-old told ITV chat show host Jonathan Ross he does not think it is a problem that his son does not have a relationship with his biological mother.

ā€œFor me it is not a problem,ā€ he said.

ā€œI will say in the world, many kids don’t have mum, don’t have dads, or dads die or mums die... Cristiano has a dad, an unbelievable dad.ā€

The Portuguese star said his son also has the support of his grandmother, Ronaldo’s mother, adding: ā€œListen, some points in life it’s private and people have to respect the privacy of other people.

ā€œWhen Cristiano is going to grow up, I am always, always going to say the truth to him because he deserves, because he is my son but I am not going to say because people want me to say.ā€

When asked at what age he will share that information, Ronaldo said: ā€œI’m not worried about that, he’s going to understand his daddy, he is going understand I am sure 100%. 100% he is going to understand me.

ā€œI’m going to say the time when I feel that the time, that is the right time. I don’t know... 10, 11, 12? ā€œI don’t know, let’s see.ā€

Ronaldo, who is the subject of an eponymous documentary which is now on general release, told the show he would like more children. ā€œYes, a few more, I want three, four more,ā€ he said.

Ross asked if there was a ā€œspecial someoneā€ in Ronaldo’s life, and he replied: ā€œA few.ā€

His mother speaks about him being an unwanted child in the documentary, and when asked how he felt about this, Ronaldo told the show: ā€œNormal... Not just me, it doesn’t change anything in my mind. As I said before, I was a special kid and I help all my family so I am happy, very happy.ā€

On the contrast of his son’s life to how his life was growing up, Ronaldo spoke about how much he values education. ā€œIt’s all about education, you have to give good education and pass to him.ā€

The Jonathan Ross Show airs at 9.45pm tomorrow.
