Uber ‘happy’ as driver is jailed

Uber has welcomed the conviction of one of its drivers found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in his cab.

Samson Haile, 32, was jailed for eight months and made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order, which will ban him from working as or applying to be a private hire driver in England or Wales, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

Jurors at Isleworth Crown Court in west London found Haile guilty of sexual assault after hearing how he engaged a 26-year-old female passenger in a conversation with sexual overtones as soon as she got into his vehicle in Ladbroke Grove on February 27.
