John Lennon contemplated sex with man
In a wide-ranging interview with The Daily Beast, Ono said her husband had been too inhibited to act on his urge.
âI think he had a desire to, but I think he was too inhibited,â she said.
Ono said Lennon was also very picky, making it very âdifficultâ to find the right man for him to bed.
âThey would have to be not just physically attractive, but mentally very advanced, too. And you canât find people like that.â
Ono reflected on a conversation she had had with Lennon just months before he died.
âThe beginning of the year he was killed, he said to me, âI could have done it, but I canât, because I just never found somebody that was that attractiveâ.
âBoth John and I were into attractiveness, you know, beauty,â she said.
There was an old rumour that Lennon had sex with his Beatles manager, Brian Epstein, and Ono confirmed there was chemistry between the two.
âIt was never consummated. But it was a pretty intense relationship,â Ono said.
Asked about her own sexuality, Ono confirmed she had never sexually desired another woman.
âJohn and I had a big talk about it, saying, basically, all of us must be bisexual,â she said.
âAnd we were sort of in a situation of thinking that weâre not [bisexual] because of society.
âSo we are hiding the other side of ourselves, which is less acceptable. But I donât have a strong sexual desire towards another woman.â
