Baby has miracle escape after fall

A baby fell from a third-floor apartment deck in Boston and hit a tarpaulin and a man working behind the building, police have said.

The baby boy, who is between one and two years old, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday night after falling from a deck on the back of the building, authorities said.

The baby’s injuries are not life-threatening.The man, carpenter Pedro Martinez, said he was working behind the building when he felt something hit him on the back. When he looked to see what it was, he saw the baby crying and bleeding.

He said a tarpaulin that had been put up for a barbecue broke the baby’s fall.

Police are investigating.

Mr Martinez said: “I felt something hit my back. I turned around and I saw a baby laying there.

Police said no complaint was filed against the child’s parents and their name was not released.
