Law firm sorry for ‘crass’ rollercoaster tweet

An 18-year-old textile design student and his girlfriend have been named as among those injured when a record-breaking rollercoaster crashed at Alton Towers in England.

Joe Pugh, a student at the University of Huddersfield, and his girlfriend Leah Washington were hurt yesterday after two carriages crashed on a section of its 80km-h ride, The Smiler. The extent of their injuries is as yet unknown.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said yesterday four people suffered serious leg injuries in the crash — two men aged 27 and 18, and a women, 19, and a girl, 17.
