Children’s bodies taken from flat

A 31-year-old British man, a Spanish woman, 37, a four-year-old girl and a six-week-old baby girl were discovered with wounds on Monday morning. It is believed they were all family members.

After an “extensive investigation” by crime scene officers, the bodies of the two children were removed, Royal Gibraltar Police have said. The bodies of the two adults remain at the scene.

Royal Gibraltar Police said in a statement: “There has been and continues to be a lot of speculation in this very unfortunate event, but the investigating team are not prepared at this moment in time to elaborate on this, other than to stress that the scene of investigation has not been an easy environment to work in and that the deceased did have wounds to their bodies.”

A Home Office pathologist will join the investigating team today.

The British man involved was originally from Liverpool, according to police sources quoted by El Mundo newspaper. The four-year-old girl was believed to be the woman’s daughter from a previous relationship, while the baby was born in Spain.
