Prosecutors have rested their case against Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev with gruesome autopsy photos of the people who died in the 2013 terror attack.

Tsarnaev’s lawyer said in opening statements that Tsaranev participated in the bombings but that his older brother, Tamerlan, was the mastermind.

Tsarnaev’s lawyers will get a chance to present their case. The defence has made it clear its strategy during the two-phase trial is not to win an acquittal but to save him from the death penalty.
