VIDEO: How to safely view this morning’s solar eclipse

All you need are some everyday items that are found around the house to protect your eyes during the partial eclipse.
Frances McCarthy, Education and Outreach officer at CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory, kindly showed us the safest and most effective way of viewing the event by making a very simple device from a carboard box, some tinfoil, sellotape and a drawing pin.
The eclipse will occur at approximately 8.20am in Irish skies and will last roughly an hour.
