‘Fifty Shades’ of film frenzy

Fifty Shades Of Grey looks set to be a box office hit with one UK cinema chain already boasting of taking in more than £1m in ticket sales a week before it opens.

The film version of EL James’ raunchy bestseller, which stars Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as his lover Anastasia Steele, is in cinemas from next Friday.

A spokeswoman for Vue Entertainment International said its cinemas had taken more than £1.3m in advance ticket sales.

Boss Tim Richards said: “The hotly anticipated Fifty Shades Of Grey film adaptation and Valentine’s weekend is a match made in heaven for record-breaking movie going. The success of Fifty Shades Of Grey continues to be phenomenal.”

The film has been passed by censors without any cuts.

The British Board of Film Classification made director Sam Taylor-Johnson’s take on the “mummy porn” story an 18 certificate.
