Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown found unresponsive in bath

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only daughter of the late pop star Whitney Houston and singer Bobby Brown, is recovering in hospital after she was found unresponsive at her home on Saturday.

Police are investigating if drugs were involved after the 21-year-old was revived and rushed to a hospital after she was found in the bathtub by her husband.

The incident comes nearly three years after Houston, a superstar who battled substance abuse, drowned in a bathtub in Beverly Hills, California, in February 2012. Authorities determined cocaine use and heart disease contributed to her death.

Brown was found in the bathtub at her suburban Atlanta home by her husband and a friend, said Lisa Holland, public information officer for the Roswell Police Department.

Brown’s husband, Nick Gordon, started CPR and police continued lifesaving measures until an ambulance arrived and took her to the hospital.

She was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia, Holland said, adding: “She’s alive at the hospital.”

Brown married Gordon in January 2014. Gordon was also raised for a time by Houston, one of the best-selling recording artists of all time, but she never formally adopted him. On Houston’s birthday last year, Gordon had his arm tattooed with a portrait of the late singer.

Houston was found dead in a hotel bathtub on February 11, 2012, in Beverly Hills, California. The 48-year-old had struggled for years with cocaine, marijuana, and pills, and her behaviour had become erratic.

Authorities examining Houston’s death found a dozen prescription drug bottles in the hotel suite. They concluded that Houston accidentally drowned. Heart disease and cocaine use were listed as contributing factors in Houston’s death.

Over her career, Houston sold more than 50m records in the US alone. Her voice, an ideal blend of power, grace, and beauty, made classics out of songs like ‘Saving All My Love For You’, ‘I Will Always Love You’, ‘The Greatest Love of All’, and ‘I’m Every Woman’.

Her six Grammys were only a fraction of her many awards.

Houston had her first No 1 hit by the time she was 22, followed by a flurry of chart-topping songs and multiplatinum records.

Houston left her entire estate to her daughter.

Devastated by her mother’s death, Bobbi Kristina has faced some of the same demons as her mother and her father, Bobby Brown, who both publicly struggled with addiction during their tumultuous 14-year relationship.

Living with Gordon in Atlanta, she stirred up controversy several times. In 2013, the couple were evicted from an apartment after multiple noise complaints from a neighbor. Last year, Bobbi Kristina launched an angry, expletive-fueled Twitter rant against director Angela Bassett, who opted not to include her in this month’s Lifetime movie Whitney. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bassett explained it was for a number of reasons that she steered clear of Bobbi Kristina, one being, “she’s not an actress”. Bobbi Kristina later apologised for her rant.

In March 2014, she came under more scrutiny for her suddenly super-skinny physique.
