Gary Glitter trial gets under way

The trial of former pop star Gary Glitter, who is accused of a string of historic sex offences against three girls, will take place today after it was adjourned by the judge yesterday.

The 70-year-old, whose real name is Paul Gadd, faces 10 charges relating to alleged crimes committed in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Glitter, from Marylebone in London, appeared at Southwark Crown Court for the start of his three-week trial.
