One dead, several hurt in axe attack
Officers were called to a “major disturbance” at The Kings Arms in Tamerton Foliot, Plymouth, Devon, at around 1.30 yesterday morning.
Several callers reported a man was in possession of a knife and an axe.
A 27-year-old man was found seriously injured at the scene and taken to Derriford Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Two other men were taken to the hospital with knife injuries.
Detectives are treating the death as suspicious.
A weapon was recovered and two men, aged 20 and 21, both from Plymouth, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A police spokesman added that the weapon found at the scene was an axe, with the knife yet to be located.
Meanwhile, a murder investigation has been launched after a 36-year-old man was killed in an apparent shooting yesterday.
Police say they are treating the killing as an “isolated incident” after emergency crews were called to First Drove in Burwell, Cambridgeshire, shortly after 2am.
A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service said the victim was found dead at the scene.
A second person was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with facial injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said “firearms were involved” in the murder, according to the BBC.
