Hackers: Jolie branded ‘spoilt brat’
In the latest embarrassing revelations following the hacking, believed to have been carried out by North Korea.
The leaked emails describe Jolie as egotistical and a maker of films that ābombā.
The emails are part of an exchange between studio co-chairman Amy Pascal and producer Rudin.
The email claims Angelina was displeased to learn that David Fincher was going to be directing the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic as opposed to a re-make of Cleopatra that she would play the lead in.
Central to the cutting comments was an email conversation on the upcoming Aaron Sorkin-written biopic on Jobs that originated at Sony but later moved to Universal Pictures.
Jolie, say the emails, objected to Fincher directing the movie about the Apple co-founder instead of Cleopatra.
Pascal asked Rudin, a producer on Jobs, to talk to Jolie about it, but Rudin said he didnāt āwant to waste [his] time on thisā.
āYou better shut Angie down before she makes it very hard for David to do Jobs,ā Rudin wrote in one email, in reference to Jolie.
He repeatedly slammed the idea of Jolieās Cleopatra movie, calling Jolie a āminimally talented spoiled bratā and said the big-budget project could jeopardize his and Pascalās careers.
āIām not remotely interested in presiding over a $180m ego bath that we both know will be the career-defining debacle for us both,ā reads one email from Rudin.
āIām not destroying my career over a minimally talented spoiled brat who thought nothing of shoving this off her plate for 18 months so she could go direct a movie. I have no desire to be making a movie with her, or anybody, that she runs and that we donāt. Sheās a camp event and a celebrity and thatās all and the last thing anybody needs is to make a giant bomb with her that any fool could see coming.
āWe will end up being the laughing stock of our industry and we will deserve it, which is so clearly where this is headed that I cannot believe we are still wasting our time with it.ā
Rudin also wrote: āYou (Pascall) have destroyed your relationships with half the town over how youāve behaved on this movie. If you donāt think itās true, wait and see. Letās see the next filmmaker WME puts in business at Sony or the next piece of star talent. Iāll bet my house Iām right.ā
