Angelina to quit acting and focus on directing

Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie has said she is to quit acting in order to concentrate on writing and directing.

The Hollywood star, who has appeared in more than 30 films, said she never enjoyed being in front of the camera.

“I’ve never been comfortable as an actor; I’ve never loved being in front of the camera,” she told DuJour magazine.

“I didn’t ever think I could direct, but I hope I’m able to have a career at it because I’m much happier.”

But she clarified to Entertainment Weekly that she wouldn’t call time on acting just yet. “I have a few more in me, ones I have been developing for some time, so I will do those before I step away.”

Her husband, Brad Pitt, hinted at retiring from acting in 2011.

Jolie is promoting her new film, Unbroken, about Olympic runner and US airman Louis Zamperini, who survived two years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp.
