The Institute Of Sexology — a show at the Wellcome Collection — features more than 200 objects, including sex toys, paintings, medical artefacts, films, carvings, prints and photographs.
And one object which visitors will be able to try for themselves is the “Orgone Accumulator”, a reflectively lined box which Austrian psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich created in 1939 to generate “vital libidinous energy” in those who sat inside it.
Prosthetic limbs, a moped and false teeth were among the stranger items fished out of sewers over the last year.
The Consumer Council for Water has urged people to think about what they pour and flush away as they revealed the grim contents of sewer pipes across England and Wales.
Other items which contributed to the £70m (€87m) cost of clearing more than 300,000 blockages included slippers and tennis balls. In other bizarre finds, Anglian Water pulled a mattress from the sewer, Northumbrian Water found a dead cow, Severn Trent removed a piranha and Southern Water found a dead snake and a severed finger.
A Utah woman, 32, accused of using burning bacon to start a fire in her ex-boyfriend’s house is pleading guilty. Cameo Adawn Crispi acknowledged she put the meat on a biscuit sheet on top of a stove and turned the burner on high on March 14.
Police say officers found smoke flowing out the front door and hot coals on the floor around an open wood stove. Authorities say the woman was arrested after a brief struggle with officers.
Charging documents say Crispi’s blood-alcohol level was 0.346, more than four times the legal limit for driving.
The Deseret News reports Crispi pleaded guilty to reduced charges of reckless burning, attempted assault by a prisoner and intoxication.
Her attorney, Clint E Hendricks, didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment.
Officials said hackers have attacked the website of the electoral commission, which is still unable to publish full returns from local elections because of an unrelated computer glitch.
The State Electoral Commission said while the hacking incident did not add more difficulties to the vote-counting process, it ordered its officials to change their passwords. The problems have undermined the credibility of Sunday’s vote, which has been seen as a test of strength for new Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz before next year’s general election.
Exit polls suggested a win for the opposition Law and Justice party in provincial assemblies, but the official returns for the assemblies were still unknown, after the computer system failed.
Emerald White said she was trying to retrieve her four dogs from her neighbour’s yard when the beagle attacked her, causing her dogs to attack, a lawsuit said.
The beagle’s owners, the Baker family, said the pit bulls broke into their yard and started the incident that left their beagle, Bailey, dead a few minutes after the attack ended in the Houston suburb of Texas City.
White’s attorney, Paul LaValle, told local broadcaster KHOU-TV: “I’m getting the hate mail and the death threats.”
White’s lawsuit said her neighbours were negligent and that she suffered from mental anguish, disfigurement, pain, loss of earnings and a fear of future disease because of the beagle attack.
