Actress Aherne being treated for lung cancer

Royle Family star Caroline Aherne is recovering after being treated for lung cancer, but has vowed to carry on with her TV work.

The actress and writer, 50, whose comedy creations have also included her spoof chat host Mrs Merton, has previously been treated for bladder and eye cancer.
