Victim of nightclub attack uses #NoMakeupSelfie to raise funds for abuse charity
Jeanne Marie Ryan from Oxford, UK published the image on her Facebook page this week.
The post said: "I am sorry cancer research, but my #nomakeupselfie is for a different cause".
She goes on to explain the photo, claiming she was groped by a man in a nightclub without her consent. When she told him he was being inappropriate, and that he shouldn't touch women without their consent, he physically assaulted her.
Jeanne said: "I'm trying to channel my rage into something constructive, so I'm raising money for the Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre (OSARCC)".
Her post has since gone viral, with over nine thousand shares so far.
The brave young lady also set up a JustGiving fundraising page for the OSARCC and has collected over 14,000 pounds so far, eclipsing her original goal of 100 pounds.
Jeanne thanked everyone for their support and joked "sometimes you just have to make the best out of a broken nose".
