Pistorius ‘consumed with sorrow’ over girlfriend’s death

Paralympian Oscar Pistorius has said he is “consumed with sorrow” over the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, who he shot dead at his home a year ago yesterday.

The six-time sprint champion faces trial next month for the murder of the 29-year-old model and reality TV star.

Pistorius, 27, a double amputee known as “Blade Runner”, denies the charges and says that he shot Ms Steenkamp three times accidentally, thinking she was an intruder at his home in Pretoria, South Africa.
