A woman has given birth to the largest-ever baby born in Germany after the arrival of Jasleen, who weighs 6.1kg (13-and-a-half lbs).

Baby Jasleen was delivered naturally at the University Hospital in Leipzig. At 57 cm long Jasleen is the biggest-ever German newborn. Mother and baby are reportedly doing well. Jasleen still falls short of the heaviest-ever baby born. According to the Guinness Book of Records, Anna Bates gave birth to a boy weighing 10.8kg (23.8 pounds) in Ohio in 1879, but the baby died 11 hours later.
