Ancestral home promises four more beers for Barack

Four more beers — the Offaly publican who poured a pint for US President Barack Obama last year has offered him a free drink on his next visit to Ireland.

Moneygall’s Ollie Hayes issued the invitation to the president via Twitter yesterday.

Obama visited Hayes’s pub during his visit to his ancestral home of Moneygall in May 2011 and insisted on paying for the round.

“I just want you to know that the President pays his bar tab,” he quipped.

Yesterday, Ollie said everyone in Moneygall was delighted with the president’s reelection.

“His visit to my pub last year will live long in the memory,” he said.

He tweeted Obama’s official Twitter account, @BarackObama, which has 22.6m followers, to say: “Congrats on victory from your Moneygall ancestors. The Guinness is definitely on the house next time you visit us in Ireland,” he wrote.

Ollie was anxiously waiting for a reply last night.
