Schoolgirl’s mum pleads with her to come home

The mother of a 15-year-old girl who has run away to France with her 30-year-old teacher made a direct appeal to her last night: “Sweetheart, I don’t care what you’ve done or why, I just want you home.”

The search continued yesterday for the schoolgirl, Megan Stammers, as police appealed to the girl or her teacher, Jeremy Forrest, to make contact after eloping across the English Channel.

Sussex Police Chief Inspector Jason Tingley appealed to Mr Forrest, saying: “Do the right thing and make contact with us.’
