Bin Laden raid site torn down

Pakistan is more than halfway through the demolition of the three-storey compound where Osama bin Laden was killed by US soldiers in May, erasing a concrete reminder of a painful and embarrassing chapter in the country’s history.

Police kept spectators and journalists away from the compound, where the al-Qaida chief lived for years with his wives and children, as government workers began tearing it down on Saturday without prior notice.
