X% less claims out

The big food conglomerates suffered a rare defeat in the European Parliament when a majority voted against allowing a “X% less” claim on food labels.

For companies to put “reduced” calories/fat/salt on a product, EU law says it must be reduced by at least 30% and 25% for salt.

It’s a small victory for consumers after MEPs let them down badly as they siding with the industry lobbyists.
