Lufthansa flies to Tripoli again

German airline Lufthansa is to resume its regular flights to the Libyan capital.

Deutsche Lufthansa said in a statement yesterday that there will be three flights a week between Frankfurt and Tripoli starting this week.

The airline, a Star Alliance member, suspended its flights to Tripoli a year ago amid growing turmoil there.

The country then slid into civil war and a Nato-led military intervention eventually allowed rebels to oust the regime of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
