Model Klum to divorce husband Seal
‘Kiss From A Rose’ singer Seal and his supermodel wife have announced they are separating after “much soul searching”.
The couple, who have been married for almost seven years, have four children together, including Klum’s daughter from a previous relationship.
In a statement, the couple blamed the break-up on “growing apart”, appealed for privacy and stressed the split was “amicable”.
It is the latest in a series of high-profile celebrity splits which has seen the marriages of Russell Brand and Katy Perry and Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher fall by the wayside.
Seal, 48, and Klum, 38, married on a beach in Mexico in May 2005, shortly after announcing she was pregnant with their son, Henry.
The Grammy award-winning singer, whose real name is Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel, got his big break singing on Adamski’s number one hit ‘Killer’.
His third single in his own name, ‘Kiss From A Rose’, was a worldwide smash and won two Grammy awards.
German-born Klum made millions modelling lingerie for Victoria’s Secret and has also branched out into the world of reality television, hosting and producing Project Runway.
The couple, who were thought to have one of the showbiz world’s most solid marriages, famously renewed their vows on every wedding anniversary.
The joint statement read: “While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul searching we have decided to separate.
“We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart.
“This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.
“We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”
They were one of Hollywood’s most high-profile couples, and seemed to have the relationship everyone should envy.
They starred together in the music video for ‘Secret’, boasted of their love in the media, and threw Halloween bashes together where they dressed in outrageous outfits. The most recent bash in New York City last year saw Seal and Klum engaged in their typical public display of affection for the cameras.
