Jumper hurt

POLICE say an American who has claimed successful parachute jumps off the Eiffel Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge broke his legs in a failed attempt off Cape Town’s Table Mountain.

Police spokesman Ezra October said yesterday the jumper was 35-year-old Jeb Corliss.

Table Mountain National Park spokeswoman Merle Collins told the Cape Times newspaper that Corliss did not have permission for Monday’s attempt and could face charges.

Corliss was host of Discovery Channel’s Stunt Junkies when he tried to jump from the Empire State Building in 2006 but was stopped.
