Facebook timeline upgrade rolled out to all
The timeline feature, which was previously only open to people in New Zealand, will redesign users’ profile pages, splitting the screen into two columns and placing greater emphasis on photographs.
The upgrade received a mixed response from users commenting on the website. One wrote it was a “stupid, useless, ugly update” but another described it as the “single best thing Facebook has ever added”.
The upgrade includes the option to choose which posts can only be seen by friends and a seven-day review period before the timeline goes public.
Nick Pickles, director of privacy group Big Brother Watch, said the move was part of an “exploitative agenda”, adding Timeline will “hijack the personal information of people who had previously said it should be private”.
