Filipino smuggled 600 people

A WOMAN from the Philippines has been arrested in Denmark and charged with helping to smuggle more than 600 people from her homeland into Europe’s Schengen passport-free zone.

The 42-year-old woman was detained on Thursday in the Thisted area of north-west Denmark and was to be brought before a judge later yesterday, said deputy chief superinten-dent Michael Kjeldgaard.

“We are charging her with facilitating the illegal travel into the Schengen area of more than 600 people over a three-year period,” he said.
