Australia hunts for killer shark

SHARK hunters have set baited hooks off the south west Australian coast hoping to catch a great white that killed an American diver.

Department of Fisheries manager Tony Cappelluti said officers set six lines with hooks off the tourist haven of Rottnest Island where witnesses saw a 10-foot great white shark take the 32-year-old man.

Scientists have warned against an overreaction to the third fatal attack off the south west coast in less than two months. Australia averages fewer than two fatal attacks a year.
