Strauss-Kahn thanks family as charges dropped
A New York appeals court yesterday rejected a request for a special prosecutor. The appeals court agreed with another court’s ruling — that there was no legal basis for a special prosecutor. Lawyers for the woman accusing the Frenchman had requested one because they felt Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R Vance was biased.
Prosecutors argued the case should be dismissed because they did not have faith in the credibility of the hotel maid who accused Strauss-Kahn of sexually assaulting her in his luxury suite in May.
