POLITICIANS faced a barrage of criticism for their response to the violence that has rocked Britain for four days.

London mayor Boris Johnson faced a barrage of criticism from angry residents as he toured the devastation in riot-hit Clapham with home secretary Theresa May.

On a walkabout in Birmingham, deputy prime minister Nick Clegg was booed by crowds who shouted “go home”.
