Polygamist jailed for life

POLYGAMIST leader Warren Jeffs has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting two underage followers he took as brides in what his church deems “spiritual marriages.”

The head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints received the maximum sentence on both counts.

The jury deliberated for less than half an hour.

Jeffs, 55, was convicted on Thursday. During the trial, DNA evidence show-ed he fathered a child with a 15-year-old. Audio was also played of him sexually assaulting a 12-year-old.
