Spain calls early elections

SPANISH Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has announced early general elections in November, four months early, in a bid to give his Socialist Party a better chance at keeping power.

Zapatero set the election date for November 20.

Spain’s unemployment rate is 20.9 %, the highest in the eurozone.
