HEAVY thunderstorms and strong winds have pounded Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, tearing roofs off homes and bringing down trees.

In Poland, one woman was killed when part of a roof collapsed, and five others were injured. St-reets were flooded, power lines were torn down al-ong with over 1,000 trees.

In the Czech Republic, dozens of children were evacuated from summer camps after a day of heavy rains raised risks of floods.
