200 migrants found in truck

MORE than 200 illegal immigrants were found crammed into one truck near Mexico’s southern border.

The 210 mainly Central and South Americans were found when the truck was searched at a checkpoint, an immigration official said. Police detained the driver and his assistant, both of whom will be transferred to a maximum-security prison.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants cross Mexico’s southern border on their way to the US. They are often smuggled in brutal conditions, packed tightly inside truck trailers.
