Crowe courts controversy with row over circumcision

AUSTRALIAN actor Russell Crowe caused a storm on Twitter yesterday when he denounced circumcision as “barbaric and stupid”.

Crowe was quickly reminded by followers that circumcision is a cardinal element of many religious groups’ beliefs, especially in the Jewish faith.

The row started when one of Crowe’s followers asked him whether she should circumcise her son and the Gladiator star took the opportunity to voice his opinion on the contentious matter.
