Pope’s view on chant model

POPE BENEDICT XVI has restated the Vatican Council’s teaching on the primacy of Gregorian chant as the model for sacred music.

In a letter to Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, the education prefect, the Pope noted: “It is not the individual or the group that celebrates the liturgy. It is God’s action through the church with the church’s history, rich tradition, and very own creativity.”
