Knox in court in slander trial
Knox was sentenced to 26 years in jail for sexually assaulting and murdering British roommate Meredith Kercher. She denies wrongdoing and her appeals trial is under way, also in Perugia.
The slander trial is a separate proceeding that stems from Knox’s claims that she was beaten by police when questioned about Kercher’s death in 2007. Her lawyer, Luciano Ghirga, said the slander trial was adjourned until November.
