Man survives canyon plunge

A MAN survived a 200ft (61m) plunge after apparently driving his car off the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, authorities in Arizona said.

Park rangers said the 21-year-old told them he freed himself from the wreckage after the crash on Monday evening and then climbed to the rim to seek help.

Officials said the man, who has not been named, was treated at Flagstaff Medical Centre for non-life-threatening injuries.
