Aherne in new comedy show

ROYLE FAMILY star Caroline Aherne has created her first new comedy series for nine years — with a show about overnight security staff.

She has teamed up with writer and producer Jeff Pope — with whom she worked on one-off comedy The Fattest Man In Britain — to create the four-part ITV1 series.

The Security Men will feature comedy star Bobby Ball as well as Dean Andrews from Ashes To Ashes. It will be Aherne’s first new comedy series since 2002’s Dossa And Joe for the BBC.
