MAD MEN creator Matthew Weiner is relieved after TV bosses reached a deal to bring the hit show back for two more series, insisting he is “very happy” to be continuing work on the retro drama.

Deal agreed over Mad Men return

The future of the show, starring Jon Hamm and January Jones, was thrown into jeopardy when executives at the network behind the show, AMC, and the Lionsgate studio failed to reach a deal to bring the series back to the small screen.

The extended negotiations, which led to delays in the filming schedule, were finally resolved on Thursday and TV bosses have struck a deal to film series five, as well as a sixth and seventh season, with the drama coming to an end at the conclusion of series seven.
